Submitted Comments on Allentown School, 2009

"Well I know I probably shouldn't say this but here goes. As someone that has to look at that school every time I go outside I say TEAR IT DOWN, bulldoze it, blow it up I don't care if they use any or all of those listed.

I should also tell you that I was quite fond of that beautiful old school when it was in fact that very thing but now it's just an eyesore.

The past owners of the school didn't care that many people had a bond with it, they tore out and sold what they could and just wrecked the rest of it. We also seemed to be blessed with our share of misfits that just couldn't stand the windows being in the building so they made sure they were all gone.

Last but not least the flying rats that have taken control for the past many years surely have their waste piled almost to the missing windows, this would take a great deal to clean up, something I'm sure no one will bother with.

So as I said before, get rid of it, a parking lot would look better. So that's my opinion, hope I didn't insult or aggravate any one, If I did I apologize."

"I regretfully must agree,  it is time to tear her down. She will be remembered for many years by those who attended her -- and then she will be forgotten like all of the one room schoolhouses that preceded her.

I was mildly shocked when I read in the on-line Wellsville Reporter that Scio and Wellsville schools are considering merging. Signs of the times. (Trite, but true.)"
