Dyke Street Museum, home of Thelma Rogers Genealogical and Historical Society, has recently lost two of it's strong supporters with the passing during the last 6
months of Frank O'Brien and Norman Ives. With fondness of memories for the many kind acts of labor provided to the Society by both, we remember them here.
Also, the recent move from our community of long-term Curator of the Museum, Shirley Engle (and husband Richard) has left sadness in the ranks. Shirley and Dick were inspiration
for many years of leadership at the Society and Museum. Both receive our heartfelt Thanks.
Following Shirley's inspiration and energy for preserving and promoting Local History and the study of genealogy, the current President (Jane Pinney) and Treasurer (Mary Rhodes) and
long-time member/supporter Eleanor Cott have worked to promote the Museum to provide the community with a worthwhile organization.
As I visited, I chuckled at the invitation for ice cream at the outside entrance from the old sign formerly belonging to "Cretekos Bros." of Wellsville. (below)
Several people (you know who you are) along with Mary & Jane are to be congratulated for the "new - old" look at the Museum. From the time you enter the front door you see bright
and cheery items which show a little something for everyone.
Inside was a banner (carried recently in the Sesqui 150 Parade) which was handmade by Eleanor Cott. (below)
Hundreds of items are now openly and well displayed for viewing and to help learn a little more history about our locality.

I was told by many people during the day that they had never been to Dyke Street Museum before today and they were impressed with the local items of manufacture and use that are on
display.
Upstairs (where Mary Rhodes resided most of the day) in addition to many historical display items, is a rather large collection of family histories, genealogical books for research and
historical printed material for reference. Residents of the area are encouraged to contact and visit during the open hours of the Museum to work on their own family genalogies.
A copy of your family history would be welcomed to add to the shelf for sharing with other researchers!
