DEATH OF MRS. EMMA NICHOLS

The Wife of the Late Editor of the ”Democrat” Passes Away

Mrs. Emma Nichols, wife of the late editor W. W. Nichols, died at her residence on Mill Street, in this city (Wellsville), last Thursday at 12:30 o’clock.  Mrs. Nichols has been in failing health and for the past few weeks had been closely confined to her room. Wednesday she was taken worse and soon after midnight passed quietly away.  The immediate cause of her death was dropsy of the heart.

Mrs. Nichols’ maiden name was Emma Holdridge, and she was born in the town of Ossian, near Canaseraga, forty six years ago.  Twenty two years ago last December she was married to the late W. W. Nichols at Canaseraga, they removing to Wellsville in 1874.   Three children are left to mourn her loss, two daughters, Nellie and Daisy and a son, George.

The funeral obsequies were observed from the family residence on Mill street, at 2 pm, Saturday, Rev. Mr. Coit officiating.  The remains were laid by the side of her husband in the new cemetery.  (Woodlawn)
