From a clipping given to me by Connie Alsworth Barney comes this interesting story about the Elfgren Family on their way to Nebraska, 1955 I believe.I found a couple of internet search comments about their travels, one in Northeastern NY State before arriving

Another article tells of their travels and they got as far as Hannibal, MO.:
