Cole (Dike) Cemetery

Located at Shoemaker's Corners (Elm Valley)

Behind the 4th house from intersection of Alfred-Elm Valley Road & State Route 417, East of Intersection on North Side of Highway. 


Below is listed every stone that is viewable as of 7/26/2003.  Many slate stones are completely weather blasted and have become completely smooth.....nothing remains of inscription.  Original List was formed from visit/observation of Ron Taylor & William A. Greene.

This cemetery is burial place of 1st two white settlers in Allegany County and the 1st white death in Allegany County.  (Noted with ***) No stone remains visible for Stephen Cole.
