ALLEGANY COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Recently the Allegany County Historical Society was granted a "revived" Charter by the NYS Board of Regents, State Education Department.

Following the Charter being granted, a formal Corporate Organizational Meeting was held and the "rest is history!"

Membership has now been opened and your help is sincerely needed to financially and personally support the Society.

Below is the first (Charter Edition) published newsletter issued by the Society and explains a lot of the purposes and the Vision of the Society.

Please read the information, join the society, and let us know how you might be able to assist us in building a useful and educational organization.

Vision for Allegany County Historical Society

The Allegany County Historical Society is an educational organization which interprets the history of Allegany County, New York, by accepting, collecting and preserving artifacts, operating a museum, conducting educational programs, publishing material on the county, and encouraging others to preserve and protect the history of the county.

Our constitution states, in part, that one of the purposes of this society is to "gather, preserve, display and make available for study genealogy information, manuscripts, papers relating to the genealogy of Allegany County."

Another important purpose is to foster mutual cooperation between all local historical societies, museums and historians within the borders of Allegany County so that the public may best observe artifacts, books, manuscripts, papers, photographs and other records and materials relating to the art, science & history of the Allegany County region within New York State.
